Packing For London – Four Days Travel

My last post, London – Planning an Itinerary & Budget, detailed how I put a London itinerary together, accommodation and travel. Now we get on to the packing – light and easy.

Considering I am not really a city girl and instead I like a more active approach to life, my clothes list is centred around sports wear – comfortable, casual, and warm. That means sneakers, running pants, various crops, etc.

Here is a list of mine & Brody’s clothing list for four days in London;

  • 2 pairs high waist running pants
  • 4 various style crop tops
  • Pair white sneakers
  • 1 shirt
  • 1 jumper
  • 4 pairs socks
  • 4 changes underwear
  • 1 fleece
  • 1 warm medium weight waterproof fleece lined coat
  • 1 set pjs

  • 2 pairs pants
  • 4 various tees or long sleeve tops
  • 1 pair trainers
  • 1 jumper
  • 1 coat
  • 4 pairs socks
  • 4 changes underwear
  • 2 sets pjs

This will carry us through the weekend easily as it’s just like camping – re-wear some items i.e. pants, shirt and jumper, which don’t really get dirty to save space and weight.

All of the clothing items are rolled up small and tight, underwear and socks packed first into any spaces to fill the gaps, and the bulk is worn. Done!

As noted within my last post I plan to cook my own food in the room for dinners and prepare snacks & sandwiches for lunches, therefore I need cooking equipment. My pack contains the following;

  • Mini camp stove with gas canister
  • 2 mess tins
  • 2 bowls
  • 1 small kitchen knife (stuffed inside a pair of bundled socks – safety first!)
  • 1 wooden spoon
  • 2 sporks
  • 2 travel bowls
  • 2 travel mugs
  • Sugar sachets, tea bags
  • Pre made trail mix containing various nuts & seeds, plump raisins, desicated coconut, and flax seeds
  • 4 apples
  • 1 sachet of camping food

      I also packed a few ‘essential’ items for entertainment, such as;

      • Samsung Tab E (with Netflix and Kindle apps) & charger
      • Mobile
      • Camcorder & charger
      • Notebooks & pen
      • Scavenger hunt list of researched activities
      • Travel journal for Brody
      • I-Spy cars book for Brody

      Other required items which were packed include;

      • Printed maps
      • Booking copies and ID
      • Money
      • Basic makeup
      • Jojoba oil for face
      • Coconut oil for Body
      • Flannel to wash face
      • Toothbrushes and toothpaste
      • Deodorant

      All of the items fit nicely into a regular backpack, a small drawstring bag for carry on, and a bum bag to keep keys and money close and hidden at all times. Lightweight and secure!

      We are due to be at the coach station at 10:30pm and shall arrive in London tomorrow 6:30am. This is our first coach trip.
